Past Continuous Tense adalah tenses yang digunakan untuk menyatakan perbuatan yang sedang dilakukan diwaktu lampau.
Rumus kalimatnya adalah:
Catatan: To be yang digunakan adalah was dan were dengan ketentuan sebagai berikut:
- was digunakan untuk subject I, She, He dan It.
- were didunakan untuk subject They, We dan You.
Cotoh kalimat:
- I was watching TV at 12 o'clock yesterday.
- They were playing football at 4 pm last Monday.
- She was studying when her mother arrived two days ago.
Dari contoh kalimat di atas kita bisa menyimpulkan bahwa kata keterangan waktunya bis berupa kalimat simmple past, seperti pada contoh nomor 3.
